1.Why do you believe Romeo and Juliet rush to get married after declaring
their love? Support your inference with evidence from the text. Then
explain whether you think the young lovers get married too soon, and why
or why not.
-Romeo and Juliet rush to get married after declaring thier love for each because it was love at first sight and they wanted to be together and to also prevent Juliet from getting marry to Paris. I think they got married too soon because they only met for three hours and fell in love and decided to get marry the next day. What if Juliet was only getting marry to Romeo because she did not want to be married to Paris and Romeo was her next option. Whta if she was only using him for her own purpose.
2. On page. 983, re-read Mercutio's lines 77-81. In these lines,
Mercutio expresses his relief that Romeo seems to be himself again. What
is Mercutio's opinion about people who "brood over love"? What might be
the purpose of including Mercutio's opinion on love?
-Mercutio doesn't believe in love and thinks it's pointless. The purpose of including Mercutio's opinion on love is to let the readers know how each character feels about what they believe in.
3. What aspects of the play have you found to be the most realistic? Explain. What aspects do you find hard to believe? Explain.
-One aspect of this play I find to be realistic is how the two families hate each other. Most people out there don't like other people for many reasons and they don't want any of their family members to be associated with their enemies. One aspect of this play I find hard to believe is how Romeo and Juliet met for only a short time and they fell in love with each and decided to get marry the next day.
Extra Credit: Shakespeare is often praised for this masterly use of
figurative language, or language that communicates ideas beyond the
ordinary, literal meaning of the words. Find two examples of
particularly striking figurative language in Act Two. Give a quote of
each, and explain what it means.
"But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? /
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
/Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
/Who is already sick and pale with grief
